Weakness for wings
There are many philosophies that have been spread throughout the Earth during mankind's sojourned here.
Many are dangerous traps laid by the adversary to draw us away from our Destinies and stopping us from reaching our potential. Some of these traps have been around since the days of Adam refined and perfected through the years. Others are new and custom tailored for our day. The one I want to write about can be summed up in 3 words born this way.
1st I want to say that in the contacts of self acceptance and loving ourselves and others in spite of our flaws I wholeheartedly subscribe to this philosophy. The danger behind the idea lies in the nudge it takes to go from loving self and others to justifying sin wrongdoing and even hurting others. In my time being incarcerated I have met many men who used this ideology to make the claim that their crimes were not wrong. This trap slowly destroys their ability to progress forward and improve themselves it does this for anyone who steps into the trap.
The only way out is to learn to see our flaws for what they are or in essence to see ourselves for who we are.
To this end I share the parable of the Caterpillar.
One day a young Caterpillar metal large butterfly. He admired butterflies large strong wings that could carry him to great heights he wished that he too could fly he expressed this desire to the butterfly and was surprised to hear the butterfly say that he too had once been a Caterpillar. Even more surprise came when the Caterpillar was told that not only could he also grow wings and learn to fly but that was actually the whole purpose of his creation.
The butterfly stress that the process Would require a lot of change there are parts of him that would need to be destroyed and parts that would need focus expansion and growth.
His protege would need to die off while his the rasic legs would need to grow longer his simple lies would need to be removed to make place for compound eyes. And wing buds that he didn't even know I have inside him would need to expand and develop and that was just the start.
The Caterpillar was excited at the thought of lings he liked his pro legs but was willing to get rid of them to trade for long slender the rasic legs. It was the eyes he really wasn't sure of. He couldn't see the benefit in trading in his set of 6 eyes for just 2 he was also a little offended at the implication that his eyes weren't good enough. The butterfly had told him that his eyes had imperfect sight it would not be suitable for flying he thought his vision was just fine it had always suited him well enough. In fact, The more he thought about it the more Offended he got. If it was so wrong for him to have these Things, Why did God treat him with them? He was soon filled with so much resentment towards the butterfly that he couldn't stand to be around him anymore he left determined to stay Caterpillar forever.
Said story for a? It seems sets an obvious choice to give up being a Caterpillar in order to be a butterfly.Everything the Caterpillar was asked to give up would have been replaced by something even better obvious for us to see, but a requirement of faith for the Caterpillar.
It is the same for us it must be obvious to the angels of heaven that the task of acknowledgingly and giving our weaknesses to the savior will work out for the better but for us it requires faith.
For me the hardest part and facing my flaws in the light is breaking free of the lie that I must hate myself because of my weakness. I believed this life from the age of 6 when I 1st fell into addiction and when you believe that lie, it is all too easy, even comforting to then believe the lie that your flaws enough laws at all, but that, in fact Kotler the world, the church, God, etc. are all wrong and you should embrace your flaws and weaknesses and cling to them and thus ship progression stopped you are dammed.
The idea of a Caterpillar damaging his own progressing towards becoming a butterfly seems silly and foolish. But do we view it with the same foolishness when we replaced the Caterpillar with ourselves? Misses of the Caterpillar with our own can we see the need for, and benefit of, change? What if we replace they cab pillars simple eyes with an addiction to drugs or sex question like what if you replace it with sexual orientation? A refusal to forgive and love your enemy? One if you're imperfect site is Sunday football? Are you going to clean to it rather than trade it for a set of wings?
As I have pondered this topic pondered with the spear and with my savior I have slowly been able to change the way I see my flaws no longer hate myself because of them. I become more and more willing each day, to give up more and more of those flaws to the savior. Because I no longer see those weaknesses as loathful things that detract me from my worth. Rather, I see them as things placed in my designed for a purpose.
I recently read an article on butterflies that describe their change as a programmed mix of destruction and growth. My heavenly father Vic weaknesses because he knew that the process of working with the savior to the struggles weaknesses would result in the growth of those things I need to become like him.
So let's change the conversation. Rather than the worn out argument of whether Or not we should judge each other's flaws, or if we should base our love Flash hate for each other on varying levels of in perfection, Let us discuss how we can help each other gain our wings. Let us strive, in love, to help each child of God become the best they can be.
In summary
Born this way? Yes, I , and I will never again hate myself for it.
Planning on staying this way? No!With the help of my savior and those who love me I will do everything I can do to reach my divine potential.
If you are reading this, whoever you are, know that I love you. If you're struggling, as I have to gain your wings, know that I pray for you and will help you in any way I can.
Love Kasey
